2013

Dear members of the Los Angeles Pool League.

It is with regret that I am informing you that Dennis Ryan has resigned from the BOG of the LA Pool League due to his moving out of the Los Angeles area.  Dennis asked me to mention how much he has enjoyed his time with the league and all the friends he has made over the years.  Dennis will be moving into the Long Beach area and will be participating in the Long Beach Pool League.

Please join me in wishing Dennis all the best with his move as well as how much he will be missed by both the Board of Governors and the LA membership at large.

The BOG will be meeting in the next few days to appoint his replacement as required in our by-laws.

Please put August 20, 2013 on your calendar as this is the date of our members meeting for the Fall 2013 season.  The meeting will start 7:00-7:30 and will be held at the Oxwood Bar.  Also note if you have any requests for changes to our rules and/or by-laws, they must be submitted to the BOG in the form of a Motion at least 3 days prior to our meeting as the motion must be posted on our website 48 hours before the Member's Meeting for everyone to have a chance to review.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the Member's Meeting for the start of another fun new season with the LAPL.

All the best,

Brad Camac
President LAPL

Yesterday, 36 players showed up early, partners in tow, on Cinco de Mayo at Trunks in West Hollywood for LAPL Presents "Pick-A-Partner". A very special thanks to Vince Cartelli for opening the doors early for us. We had a VERY healthy turnout from our friends from the LBPL, including their President Ken Franck, Treasurer Laura Green, as well as Dan CampbellRichard WalkerTommy Nguyen & Daniel Lane - thanks to all of you for spending your day with us, we hope you all had a great time.

Below are our Top 4 teams from yesterday:

This is the 2nd straight season that Michael and Julian have won this tournament. Next season, this fundraiser will be renamed the "Who the H can take out Michael & Julian?" tournament.

Also...congrats to the winners of our 50/50 raffle yesterday - the $200 pot was split between 2 tickets, owned by Tim Clark & Vince Cartelli and Michael Gressett & Julian Auzenne.

West Coast Challenge LXVII
July 12-14, 2013

Sheraton Mission Valley
1433 Camino Del Rio South
San Diego, CA  92108

This year the San Diego Pool League will host the 67th West Coast Challenge tournament at the Sheraton Mission Valley San Diego Hotel. As a new destination for the tournament, we are very excited to be here. Located in Mission Valley, access to our local sponsors and shopping malls is very convenient.

One of the special highlights during this weekend is San Diego’s LGBT Pride celebration. The Pride Parade is Saturday July 13th with the Festival open Saturday and Sunday. As a special recognition, the Sheraton is waiving their parking fee for WCC attendees and offering complimentary shuttle service to the Gay Pride weekend festivities. The Sheraton Mission Valley is finishing a $12m remodeling project including all rooms and banquet rooms.

Group room rates for WCC are $129 per night with rate available from Thursday July 11 to Monday July 15, 2013. Sheraton Club Members can upgrade to the hotel’s Club Members Floor for an additional $40. Also available are a limited number of suites for an additional $100-$120 with Club Member Floor access included. All rooms are subject to Room Tax currently at 12.565%.

Reservations can be made directly online HERE using our Group Code GSMWCC; or by contacting the Sheraton Mission Valley directly.

We look forward to hosting our sister cities here for the WCC SD LXVII. Check back for information as the dates draw near.
