Dear League Members, Officers of the BOG, Sponsors, and Friends,

Welcome to the Fall, 92nd, 2019, 8-Ball Season of the Los Angeles Pool League!

It is an honor to serve as your league president. We are grateful to our past presidents and board  members for creating and maintaining the nation’s longest running LGBTQ pool league.  We strive to be a fun, vibrant, and an all-inclusive league for our members, sponsors, and friends to enjoy. LAPL will start the Fall Season 92 on September 3 with just over one hundred players and 16 teams. Our league purpose is to promote good sportsmanship and respect for all people.

The LAPL is a great place to socialize, develop friendships, and be part of a community. On a personal note, the LAPL has been a great experience for me. I have been a member for 31 years. I have played for many of our current and past sponsors including Rafters, (my first sponsor), Mother Lode, Trunks, Bar 10, Gold Coast, Woody’s Hyperion, In Touch East, Jox, Casita Del Campo, and The Boulevard. The relationships developed on and around these pool tables will always be cherished and remembered.

I want to thank the hard-working volunteers that make the Los Angeles Pool League the greatest league in America--especially Our Board of Governors, team captains, players, and sponsors. I am honored to have Steve Duckman serving as vice president this year. He has served in many capacities and his support with day to day operations to fundraising will be immeasurable.  Al Ballesteros serves as treasurer. His support of the league and the West Coast Challenge will continue to be an inspiration. Al will do an outstanding job managing our league finances. Siva Bodapati continues to serve as secretary and provides excellent guidance and support. Tod Davenport will serve as Statistician. He has a lot of energy and a true dedication to the LAPL. Malisa Mapu will return as playoff chair. She has done a sensational job overseeing playoffs and will continue to support the WCC. Gibbi Takatch resumes as rules and protests chair. Gibbi loves the game and is always there to repair tables and cues. Gibbi will continue to provide tables and service for the WCC. I again want to thank the board members who have gone above and beyond in their commitment and duties.

This should be another great season. There is a magic about the LAPL and there is no better place to watch or play in a competitive 8-ball match. Each of you will remember the time you spend with the LAPL and if you are like me, you will remember it as one of the greatest experiences of your life.

PLAY Pool!

Motion III: Arturo Carrillo
From Arturo

Hello Governors,

I formally request to propose to the league to request the webmaster, Bryan Haneiwich to yield all administrative logins, passwords and billing of all LAPL services to the board.

All billing services such as the website, constant contact, etc, to service the Los Angeles Pool League must be billed directly to the organization and not to any member of the league.  All information must be provided to the board within 2 weeks*.

The webmaster has been paying the bill directly with the service providers as a noble gesture of donation towards the league for years, but it is an accounting error and must be corrected.

Bryan Haneiwich should be recognized for his annual donations towards the league and be thanked for.

* This time frame can be modified by vote of the league members.

Best regards
Allen Montalbano
President, Los Angeles Pool League
